About People School of Inclusive Practices and Social Transformation: apply by 22 May
05/05/2026
The human rights initiative Journalists for Tolerance (J4T) invites you to the About People School of Inclusive Practices and Social Transformation.
The School will take place on 24–28 June 2026 near Warsaw, Poland.
Who is the About People School for?
J4T’s mission is to foster a culture of tolerance and inclusion in Belarusian society by changing communication practices and increasing the positive visibility of vulnerable groups in culture and the media.
That is why we invite people who spread information and create narratives:
— journalists and editors,
— bloggers and influencers,
— people working in culture: artists, performers, photographers and others who work for social change through culture,
— queer activists.
What will we do?
Over five days we will work on inclusion, human rights and communication. We will look at how language and narratives shape the way vulnerable groups are seen, and at the role of media and cultural practices in shaping social processes.
We will pay special attention to how media and cultural projects can help reduce xenophobia, build mutual understanding and develop lasting cooperation between groups.
Sessions will be led by J4T trainers and invited experts in media and cultural practices. The School is a space for learning together and sharing experience, combining theory with interactive formats.
Part of the School is set aside for developing your own projects aimed at reducing xenophobia. On the last day, participants will pitch their ideas. The five best projects will receive funding of 400 to 1,100 euros for implementation, along with mentoring from the trainers.
Projects can be individual or group projects and may include media or art formats, content creation, exhibitions, performances, internal policies for organisations, research followed by information campaigns, and more. Projects should aim to achieve lasting social change.
How to apply
Places are limited. To apply, fill in the form by 22 May inclusive.
During the School we provide meals, accommodation in double rooms and cover travel between cities. Participation is free.
We will announce the results of the selection after 26 May.
